Tango2Gotan is delighted to welcome Carlos & Mirella to Lisbon for the first time. On 30 and 31 October, we’ll be hosting an unforgettable weekend featuring workshops, private lessons and a Milonga, with a stunning performance from this breathtaking couple.

Internationally renowned for their elegance, subtlety and profound musicality, they perform a demanding style of tango in which technique and emotional expression come together effortlessly. Their stage presence is both precise and captivating, reflecting years of hard work and artistic exploration. They continually strive for perfection in their dancing, constantly pushing the boundaries, and their motto is: “As a dancer, you never stop learning!”

Finalists at the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires for seven consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025), they have also won several notable titles at European level, including:

  • 1st place: Official European Tango Championship ‘Tango Escenario’ 2025
  • 1st place: UK London Tango Championship ‘Tango Escenario’ 2018
  • 1st place: Official European Tango Championship ‘Tango de Pista’ 2017

Programme

Over the course of two days, Carlos & Mirella will share their approach through themed classes, practical sessions and a special milonga featuring a demonstration. The event will take place in the fantastic auditorium of the Goethe-Institut Lisbon, located at Campo dos Mártires da Pátria 37, Lisboa, which offers the best conditions in terms of location, flooring, lighting and sound.

Friday

  • 19:30 – 20:45 | Active vs Passive Leading (Intermediate)
    The difference between active and passive movement, when to use each approach, and the different results they produce in dance.
  • 20:45 – 22:00 | Prática
    A relaxed space to consolidate what has been learnt and explore the concepts covered.

Saturday

  • 15:00 – 16:15 | Barrida — the flirting of the feet (Intermediate/Advanced)
    Linear, circular and multiple sweeps, with a focus on precision, timing and partner interaction.
  • 16:30 – 17:45 | Boleos & Planeos (Intermediate/Advanced)
    Technique and movement, exploring variations and different qualities of movement.
  • 18:00 – 19:15 | Giros with sacadas (Intermediate/Advanced)
    The structure of the spin, including the turns, dynamics, energy, frame and the follower’s technique.

Milonga

  • 21:30 – 02:00 | Milonga Tango2Gotan
    Featuring a performance by Carlos & Mirella and music curated by DJ Lua.
